Illinois Department of Revenue to Follow Federal Tax Year 2020 Individual Deadline

On March 18 Governor Pritzker confirmed that Illinois will be adopting the May 17 individual income tax filing and payment deadline. It has further been confirmed that this deadline will not serve to extend estimated tax payments, the first of which is still due on April 15, 2021.

As with the federal deadline, no extension form needs to be filed to take advantage of the May 17 deadline, and any extension to file by October 15, 2021 will still mean the payment deadline is May 17.
